Your Sunny Eden lab-grown diamond will form over 6-12 months through the intense heat of over 4500°F, and pressures of 60 kbar, similar to the earth’s mantle. Step 1 Hair Preparation
First, we sanitize your hair sample and analyze it to determine the carbon content. Gender, age, and hair color have no impact on the carbon content of the sample. Typically the sample is 41-46% carbon. The sample is sealed in a disposable sample tube, then ground into a fine powder.

Step 2 Carbon Purification
The hair powder is placed into a high-temperature vacuum tube furnace at an average temperature of approximately 1,400°C, or 2,500°F. Oxygen is removed from the environment to assure that the carbon does not oxidize. After this thermal process, the carbon content increases to about 97%.

Step 3 Graphitization
Our high-pressure, high-temperature apparatus creates an environment similar to that of mother earth's mantle, at a whopping 200 atmospheres of pressure and 2,500°C, or 4,500°F. Combined with the solvent catalyst, diamond seed, graphite heater, and other necessary components, the graphite grows into a carbon crystal, otherwise known as a diamond.

Diamonds from hair are lab-grown diamonds, which are created from hair. Diamonds are a gem made almost entirely of a single element—carbon. Meanwhile, human hair contains about 44% carbon. Using specific technology, carbon can be extracted from human hair, and the extracted carbon can be turned into diamonds.
It depends on how many carats you choose. The bigger the diamond is, the more grams of hair you should collect. Generally, 5~10 grams or a lock of hair is enough for a lab-grown diamond.
Diamonds have the highest grade on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. They cannot be scratched by other lower-graded minerals. However, the diamond can scratch other minerals. But, if the diamond is hit at the right place, it can also be cracked. Generally speaking, diamonds can last forever, but they should also be safely stored.
You can clean your diamond at home, or go to a professional jeweler for cleaning. Lint-free cloths, commercial jewelry cleaners, and household cleaners can be used to clean your diamond from hair.
Several grams of human hair are carbonized at a high temperature of 3200-5400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, the carbonized hair and other materials are sent into a high-temperature and high-pressure environment.
